Pre-Battle Description
The Summerhall area is renowned for its fine wines. Lord Stafford’s estate has a winery and he keeps prodigious quantities of stock in the cellars that run for miles under the grounds around the manor. You've surprised some servants checking the stores - best to deal with them before they can further alert the guards!
Post-Battle Description
With the estate’s defenses breached, you may now climb up into the main house itself. With clever use of rope and climbing spikes, you quickly ascend into the main house, emerging from the cellars directly into the kitchens.
Hints
  • Dogs use lots of step attacks, so don't leave your wizard one or two squares away from them, expecting to be safe!
  • Men at Arms have lots of blocks, so strike them from behind whenever possible.
  • It can be worth it to kill servants first, to stop them drawing cards and re-energizing the guards and dogs.
  • Men at Arms cannot parry ranged attacks.

Pre-Battle Description
Lord Stafford is renowned for his love of food and his kitchen reflects this. It is overflowing with stores of fine game, lamprey pie and rich red wines from the south. You may wish to partake in this fare, though this would be unwise given the proximity of guards and dogs.
Post-Battle Description
All exits from the kitchen are predictably locked. Lord Stafford’s greed lends him vigilance. Undaunted, you use your dungeon-honed skills to probe the walls, and you discover an old secret door that leads to the library.

Mercenary 1
Armored Dogs 2
Pre-Battle Description
Creeping through the secret passageway, you swing aside a false shelf and step into a richly appointed library. Your path is blocked by a fierce Mercenary on guard duty, accompanied by his slavering Armored Dogs!
Post-Battle Description
Wiping your blades, you set to overturning the library. Lord Stafford has hidden a safe behind a set of large and tedious tomes detailing obscure agricultural practices. You use magical means to break into the safe. Inside lie several prized items, a letter addressed to the Lord’s son, and the Compass of Xorr itself!
