Tall Beech Trees 4
Pre-Battle Description
The Black Forest is a miles-wide expanse of tall deciduous trees. Man-made paths are few and far between. Picking your way through the dense underbrush, you quickly lose sight of the sun and understand that this place is aptly named. The creaking trees seem to be communicating with each other, and it is not long before some of Oak King’s guard appear in your path. Cut them down. The Baroness is relying on you!
Post-Battle Description
You stand victorious, covered in wood chips and sap. The giant pile of lumber in the clearing is a testament to your prowess. You search the trees’ upper branches, for this is where they hide their valuables. You are not mistaken and find several items taken from other adventurers.

Part 2 - Forest Path

Enemies Quantity
Oak Bombardiers 2
Towering Maple Trees 2
Pre-Battle Description
You have found a logger’s track, winding through the stifling forest. You make good time heading eastward, but just when you think perhaps this quest will be simple, the dangers of the woods overstated, there is a rustling of leaves all around you…
Post-Battle Description
The battle is long and hard. With mighty blows you hew the warrior trees and bring them to the ground. This begs the question: If a murderous tree falls in the forest, but there is no-one around to hear, does it make a sound? The answer is of course it does. They scream quite a lot. You set to looting.

Part 3 - War Monkey Clearing

War Monkeys 3
War Monkeys 2
Pre-Battle Description
According to the sages, the King of the Oaks lives in the middle of a clearing deep in the woods. You spy such a clearing up to the north off the track, but here there are only elm trees… and a band of War Monkeys who make their home there!
Post-Battle Description
The diminuitive simian warriors lie defeated on the thick forest floor. It is with great relief that you relieve them of their items and then heap them in a pyre. Never have you faced such a pernicious foe!

Part 4 - Beech Grove

Win/Loss
Black Forest Part 4 Map.png
Victory Stars Loss Stars
7 6
Enemies Quantity
Tall Beech Trees 3
Spreading Oak 1
Pre-Battle Description
The further you penetrate into the Black Forest, the more animated the trees become. You can hear them shadowing your progress, perfectly camouflaged, waiting for the right time to strike. The suspense is excruciating. Finally, you enter a grove of beeches and the trees move to attack. Though fearsome foes, you are glad that at least the waiting is over. Battle is joined!
Post-Battle Description
While looting the fallen trees after the hard fought victory, the creak and crack of living trees on the warpath breaks the stillness once again. With horror you realize that there is no end to the wave of attacking trees. You retreat in the knowledge that the better part of valor is discretion. You vow to return in search of the King of the Oaks and his precious, medicinal heartwood.
