You enter the Black Vaults without incident. Smashing your way through the makeshift barriers erected in the entry hall, you reach the aptly named Chamber of Pillars. As you raise your torches, freshly summoned demons scamper from the shadows, slick with ectoplasmic goo. Though new to this world, these abominations attack you on sight! | |||
Post-Battle Description | |||
Even after the last abomination crumbles to dust, a strange light continues to pulse, illuminating the pillars in the room with mesmerizing colors. There is a single exit out of the room, leading northwards. |
Part 2 - Chamber of Twists

The next door is opened with some difficulty, to reveal a maze of narrow corridors, dimly lit by an eerie glow from between the cracks in the masonry. Three Lightning Sprites and three Fire Sprites stand in your way, glaring at you with demonic malice. | |||
Post-Battle Description | |||
As you search the room after the battle, you note that the walls have been defaced with subtle demonic sigils. Unwisely you stare at these too closely. This makes you feel light-headed and quesy. |
Part 3 - Chamber of Bones

The third room, like the first two rooms, features asymmetrical patterns in its construction, this time in the form of foreboding piles of bones. As you draw closer, unholy foes step from the shadows. They hiss and leap to the fray, intent on adding your remains to the grim heaps. | |||
Post-Battle Description | |||
You dispatch the fell creatures and proceed to search for treasure. Close inspection of the bones reveals that they belong to no known species. Giant double-jointed femurs lie next to tiny bird-like skulls with razor teeth. With a shudder, you move quickly on. |

As you venture deeper into the Black Vault, you encounter tougher resistance. The Chamber of Bones is crisscrossed with fetid canals of shimmering water. It is defended by lesser demons, all of whom seek to use the water as protection from melee attacks. | |||
Post-Battle Description | |||
North lies a thick stone door. An unholy keening sound emanates from behind it, which stops abruptly as you heave to, rolling the door open. There is a brief snicker-snack of claws on stone, then ominous silence. With some apprehension, you creep forward into the dark. |

You step into a large chamber. The demonic inhabitants are crouched and ready to make you pay for your intrusion. They lick their thin lips hungrily, bathed in the light of the Garnet Portal. The obscene construction stands in the center of the room, pulsing with a menacing energy. | |||||
Post-Battle Description | |||||
The demons’ bodies crumble to ash, and you set about destroying the portal by uttering the word of power taught to you by Aloyzo. As soo as you do this, the foundations of the Black Vault being to shake, and it’s clear that it will eventually collapse in on itself. Run for the exit! |
